D’Ann has released two remastered organ CDs that she recorded many years ago on the largest Moeller church pipe organ in the USA. She became Organist of Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Detroit in Sept. 1971, and performed the First Public Recital on the then new instrument on Oct. 31 of that year. This reel-to-reel recording was initially made into a record, and in 2015 was remastered into a CD. This is a collection of some of her favorite works, primarily of hymn tune arrangements.
Two years later, on Nov. 4, 1973, D’Ann performed the Dedication Recital of this magnificent 5 manual, 119 rank pipe organ. This CD features repertoire that showcases the large variety of sounds that are available on this instrument. There is a true miracle story about this CD.
No one remembered that this Dedication Recital had been recorded. The Sound Engineer throughout these 40 some years had moved his studio two times. As we were getting the first CD remastered by the original Sound Engineer, David Lau, now a triple Grammy Award Winner, we asked if he had any other recordings of Metropolitan’s organ. After much searching, he found the original reel-to-reel tape of the Dedication Recital, discovered that it had not degraded over these many years, (very unusual,) found his original recording equipment (!) that still worked (!), and was able to produce this authentic and historical CD. The present sound is what she heard from the organ bench!
